Florida Mesothelioma Attorneys

Florida is a state that has one of the highest mortality rates for mesothelioma. Hundreds of thousands of workers in Florida alone were exposed to high doses of asbestos on a daily basis even after medicine noted time and time again that asbestos was linked to a growing list of serious illnesses. Employers throughout the country continued to use asbestos as a cheap insulating and fireproofing agent, even as the federal government considered banning the substance. The use of asbestos was finally banned in the mid 1970’s. Up until the ban, employers were aware of the risks they were exposing their workers to, but in many cases didn’t even provide them with any appropriate protective devices. Worse yet, many employers never shared with their employees how dangerous they new asbestos to be.

Mesothelioma is an extremely aggressive cancer which can take decades to develop. Even though the use of most forms of asbestos was banned over 30 years ago, there are still many individuals who are just developing mesothelioma. Because mesothelioma is difficult diagnose, it often advances past the point of being treatable before it is even diagnosed. There is little medicine can currently do for individuals who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma which is in stage 3 or 4 at the time of diagnosis. Over 10,000 people have died in Florida as the result of asbestos related illnesses.
